
In the context of the Organization of American States, in 1996 the States adopted the Inter-American Convention against Corruption. This Convention has a Follow-Up Mechanism for its Implementation (MESICIC), in order to evaluate how the States are fulfilling their obligations.
In the first round of analysis, through a questionnaire distributed in 2002, they analyzed the implementation of the following articles of the Convention: art. III (Preventive Measures), paragraphs 1, 2, 4, 9 and 11; art. XIV (Assistance and Cooperation); and art. XVIII (Central Authorities)
