On January 2016, CIPCE presented this document to the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, opposing to the candidacy of Mariano Federici and María Eugenia Talerico for the positions of President and Vice President of the Financial Information Unit, respectively.
The reason of the opposition was that the candidates were involved in a serious conflict of interests. In this sense, the Financial Information Unit would now be run by a group of people that until that moment were working as the lawyers of the individuals and companies investigated for money laundering.
At the end, through the Decree 233/2016, both candidates were confirmed as the new authorities of the FIU.
